I have recently come up with an idea to create a series on your page and have realized how powerful this can really be in so many ways… So, I HIGHLY encourage you all to create one.

I often have students struggle with feeling like they don’t have something different to offer, or wondering how they can stand out.

I started my own series and realized how much it was working really well for me.

So, first let me explain what a series is, then I will explain the number of ways that it is so beneficial to you.

WHAT IS A SERIES?

A series is something that you do on a repeat basis. I think it works well to do once a week. If you do this once a week, pick a specific day.

For example:

  • Life Hack Tuesday
  • Dupes Of The Week Wednesdays
  • Styling Tip Sunday
  • Amazon Find Fridays
  • Drink Recipe Fridays
  • Sales of the week Sundays
  • Coffee chat LIVE Wednesdays
  • Recipe Mondays

The idea is that you offer a specific topic that you will talk about on a repeat basis as a series.

Someone who did this really well is Krista Horton. She started twinning with her daughter and it blew up! I would say this is her claim to fame and a big part of how she has gotten her 737k followers.

She then started the #TwinningTuesday which encouraged her followers to join in and tag her. Every Tuesday she reshares a bunch of her followers #TwinningTuesday posts to her stories.

I also want to give a shoutout to one of my students who is doing this. Her name is Arpana, @bragyourstyle on IG. She did a series of posts she called #DeconstructTheLook and it took off on her page. People loved it.

So, together we decided she should make this a weekly thing that she also can invite her followers to participate in and tag her. Every friday she does a reshare of her followers posts who participated.

Now let’s talk about the MANY ways that this is so valuable.

1: It gives your followers content to look forward to every single week without fail. It keeps them coming back for more.

Consistency is something that is talked about a lot on social media. It is very important and it is something that can set you apart. When you can bring value every single week for a specific thing that your audience comes to know you for, that becomes very memorable.

In fact, when I was doing Life Hack Tuesdays, people would DM wondering when I was going to post, if I still hadn’t posted on Tuesday evenings. THEY WANTED THE CONTENT.

With the ever changing and frustrating algorithms hiding our content from more and more people, having something that your followers look forward to every single week will get them onto your page and viewing your content even if it doesn’t show up in their feed.

Pro Tip: Make sure to stay constant and show up every week for this. You can pre recorded them so you don’t ever get caught in a pickle. Or if you can’t show up one week, try and let your audience know ahead of time.

2: It creates a Unique Selling Proposition

If you’re in my Land The Brand$ Course you  know that having a Unique Selling proposition is something that is very important when pitching brands. It is essentially something that is unique about you that makes selling yourself and a collaboration with you, UNIQUE.

Some peoples unique selling feature might be a skillset they have. Like photography, singing jingles, connecting with a specific type of audience that a specific type of brand would want to get in front of, etc.

But for some people, finding their unique selling proposition is a bit harder. Having a special series can become one of your unique selling propositions.

3: It gives your pitch more juice

What I mean by this is that when you can pitch a brand to be a part of your series rather than just pitching them to post about them. It just gives you a little something extra that makes them feel special (ie a unique selling proposition)

For example, in short if I was to say in my pitch “I would love to include your brand in one of my upcoming Styling Sundays Series that I do every week on my page”

VS. “I would love to post about you on my page”

See how that has so much more juice to it, than just your average pitch. As I mentioned before, this gives you a bit of a Unique Selling Proposition  that can make you stand out compared to other influencers who are pitching.

4: It creates something that your followers might also want to participate in.

As I mentioned in my example about Krista and Arpana, both of them began to get their own audiences involved. This is a great idea for so many reasons.

It makes people feel like they are a part of something. Which makes them even more loyal to you, it makes them want to share about it and you, and it almost creates what makes you a leader of this new trend.

The best part, which leads me into number five is….

5: When they tag you, that is exposure for you on their pages!

Boom!  One of the best ways to grow is to have people share, tag, and talk about you in front of their audience.

Plus, odds are if they love your content enough to share or join in, their audience will too. This is a great way to get TONS of new, targeted people to see you and potentially decide to follow you.

Better yet, they might decide to join in too. It can really become a snowball effect.

Pro tip: Make sure to tell people to use a hashtag and actually @tag you so that you can reshare them. When you share people onto your stories that gives major social proof which will in turn make even more people want to participate. People also love a good shoutout so that will encourage people to tag you.

6: It is a great way to invite other creators to participate and collaborate with you

One thing that can be intimidating for people to do, is reach out to other influencers in order to collaborate. If you’re in my Social Media Growth Secrets Course, you know that collaboration is one of the best ways to grow. As mentioned before, the more we can get our name on other peoples pages, the better.

When I was talking with Arpana, I mentioned that she should reach out to some other influencers she looks up to and invite them to be a part of her #DeconstructTheLook.

Much like how having a series gives your pitch more juice, this also gives you asking someone to participate in something like this gives it more juice as well. Rather than just asking to collaborate or shout eachother out.

PRO TIP: create a highlight that details how people can participate, how to do it, what to tag, and how to be featured. This way anytime anyone asks, or anytime you reach out to someone to join you, you can point them right to your highlight. Also be sure to talk about it multiple times and direct people to that highlight to learn more and join in.

You can also have people who participate invite their own audiences to participate and have them direct their following to your highlight for instructions. Make sure they always know to give you created as the creator.

7: This is something that no one else is doing, which means it will give you a competitive advantage as an early adopter.

Whenever there is a new growth tactic to hit social media, the early adopters will always see AMAZING results. As more and more people catch on and join in, it loses it’s power.

This is truly something that I just realized I was doing, and started to test it’s effectiveness. When I saw how awesome it was and how some other large influencers were doing it without realizing. I knew I needed to tell all of you.

I have not seen anyone talk about this or teach it, so I will humbly state that I created it. Which means it’s brand new, and not many people are utilizing it.

A few Tips before you jump to starting a series of your own:

  • Someone I suggested this too asked me if they should do one every single day?
    • My answer was no. Every single day would be overkill and super hard to keep up with. I would start with one, make sure you’re consistent with that and when it feels right add in another one. But don’t do too many or people will forget what day is what.
  • You can ask your audience for ideas of what they want to see. I would come up with a few of your own ideas and then poll your audience.
  • Save them to a highlight so people can catch up with older ones.
  • Make this something that you could also use to pitch brands.
  • Make sure this is something that is HIGHLY valuable to your audience.
  • If you have room add it into your bio “Hack Tuesday”
  • Don’t feel like you’re stuck. You can always end a series after so many “episodes” and start a new one! Just make sure to tell your audience so they know whats up.
