Is this a step in the direction of letting users “bypass” the algorithm to see more of the accounts they want to see?
Instagram has added some features which let you sort through the accounts that you’re following:
- 50 of your “Most shown in feed” from the last 90 days
- 50 of your “Least interacted with” from the last 90 days
- Sort your following by most recent follow or least recent follow.
From there, it allows users to manage their follow status and notifications, or even mute an account.
Note: For the accounts that you interact with least and want to see more of- simply go like and interact with their account.
“Instagram is really about bringing you closer to the people and things you care about — but we know that over time, your interests and relationships can evolve and change,” the company says. “Whether you graduate, move to a new city, or become obsessed with a new interest and find a community, we want to make it easier to manage the accounts you follow on Instagram so that they best represent your current connections and interests.” – Instagram Spokesperson
